Known from a number of localities in Jambi and Riau provinces on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, and Johor state, Peninsular Malaysia.
Type locality is ‘Jambi, central Sumatra’, the type series having been obtained from an ornamental fish supplier named Vivaria Indonesia based in Jakarta, Java.
